MPhA Academies of Practice
MPhA's governing structure requires representation from the various practice settings on the Board of Directors. Academies are made up of MPhA members who practice in or are interested in this practice setting. A Director serves as the Academy Governor. The concerns of the Academy members are voiced through the Governor at Board meetings.

Academy of Academia
2016 - 2017 Chair: Matthew R.Machado, Pharm.D.
The mission of the Academia Academy is to protect and promote the art and science of pharmacy education with the purpose of continually evaluating and supporting methods of developing individuals’ knowledge, skills and talents in the pursuit of professional excellence.
Academy of Ambulatory Care Pharmacy
2016 - 2017 Chair: Kathy Zaiken, Pharm.D.
The Mission of the Academy of Ambulatory Care Pharmacy is to promote and protect the interests of pharmacists who may be practicing in an institutional or community-based clinic involved in direct patient-care. The academy shall provide networking opportunities, share best practices, and advocate to advance the professional practice in ambulatory care settings.
Academy of Community Pharmacy
2016 - 2017 Chair: Kerry McGee, Pharm.D.
The mission of the Academy of Community Pharmacy is to promote employee pharmacists of both chain and independent pharmacies. In that capacity, the academy shall work to improve employer/employee relations, advance and promote pharmaceutical care, and provide networking opportunities to address issues unique to the academy.
Academy of Health Systems
2016 - 2017 Chair: Trisha LaPointe, Pharm.D.
The mission of the Academy of Health Systems is to support the professional practice of pharmacists in hospitals and health systems and to promote issues related to medication use and public health. The academy shall foster networking opportunities, and provide education dedicated to health system related matters.
Academy of Independent Pharmacy
2016 - 2017 Chair: Saad Dinno, R.Ph.
The mission of the Academy of Independent Pharmacy is to enhance the viability of independent pharmacies in the Commonwealth, foster networking opportunities, and provide education related to independent pharmacy practice.
Academy of Industry
2016 - 2017 Chair: Barbara M. Perrt, Pharm.D., M.P.H.
The mission of the Academy of Industry is to protect and promote the application of pharmacy practice in multidisciplinary areas within the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry. The Academy emphasizes a collaborative process for pharmacy professionals to evaluate standards of practice resulting in a consistent approach to pharmaceutical care within Industry.
Academy of Long Term Care and Consultant Pharmacy
2016 - 2017 Chair: Ralph Luciano, R.Ph.
The mission of the Long Term Care & Consulting Academy is to promote consultant pharmacy practice in health care institutions, long-term care facilities, home healthcare programs and any other area in which consultant pharmacists are needed. The academy shall focus on public understanding of consultant pharmacy through educational and networking opportunities.
Academy of Managed Care
2016 - 2017 Chair: Alkiviadis Nacopoulos, Pharm.D., BCPS
The mission of the Managed Care Academy is to represent the views and interests of managed care pharmacists. In that capacity, the academy shall work to promote and foster an understanding of managed care clinical practice issues and shall work to provide networking opportunities to address issues unique to this practice setting.
Academy of Pharmacy Students
2016 - 2017 Chair: Vivian Tahmasbi
The mission of the Pharmacy Student Academy is to build strong collaborative alliances with fellow students, pharmacists, and other other health care professionals; and educate students, colleagues, and the community concerning the profession and duties of pharmacy; and to form ties with to our communities through various volunteer and outreach programs.
Academy of Pharmacy Technicians
2016 - 2017 Chair: Open Position
The mission of the Academy of Pharmacy Technicians is to support and promote the interests of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technician students. The academy shall foster networking opportunities, and provide education dedicated to matters germane to the practice of a Pharmacy Technician.
